About    From the vibrant New England metal scene comes a four-piece juggernaut of outright heaviness and technical musicianship that must be heard and heard loudly to be believed.  Out of East Haven, CT Priapism is made up of vocalist Paul Marak, drummer Alani Schaperow, guitarist Michael Schick, and bassist Mike Schupp.  They have been playing and recording since 2000 with different bass players, attempting to shatter the boundaries of conventional metal ever since. Combining influences of death metal, hardcore, and even jazz into their multilayered brutal songs, the quartet isnt bound by any particular genre or style theyre just dead-set on expanding their boundaries and playing the most powerful, hard-hitting music they can.
They recorded three demos and built their live set up at local venues such as New Haven’s Toads Place , Hartford’s Webster Theater and every bar, club, or hall in between. Their arsenal of intense, complex songs and their wildly energetic live show earned them, by popular vote, the title of Best Metal Band in Connecticut in the Hartford Advocate’s 2005 Best Of Poll.   With a large following at home and a voracious drive to bring their music to the masses, Priapism aimed to leave its mark on metal one awestruck listener at a time.  In 2011 the band finished recording their first full-length CD with Producer/Engineer Joe Cincotta (Producer of Suffocation) at Full Force Studios in Long Island, NY. The songs on this CD are the pinnacle of the bands best work in their decade-plus evolution.   Ear One founder/producer Mike Livingston has known drummer Alani for years recording him when he was young as well as his father Jim Schaperow who is an incredibly talented drummer as well.  When Alani told Mike he wanted him to hear their new CD recorded with Producer Joe Cincottta…the answer was how soon?   The two eventually met up and after listening to the entire CD it became clear that this release will blow people away. Ear One secured an agreement to release their new full length CD entitled “Prey, Pay, Obey”.   The artwork was done by Anthony Plaza of Transcend Tattoo and Art Gallery.  Bass on the new record was done by Chad Rodriguez. The full CD will be released in Spring 2012 on the Ear One label.  New merchandise including shirts and hoodies to follow.  Stay tuned!
